Anyone fancy a challenge? Terrier-experience is definitely a must.
JASPER is a 17 month-old Jack Russell x Beagle, neutered, vaccinated, chipped etc.
He is an absolute fruit loop! He behaves like a crazy puppy, knows sit but doesn’t sit straight away, throws himself into a down, loves treats, and loves toys.
He is a bit mouthy and tends to nibble with his front teeth, but he is not at all aggressive nor would I say he is biting, he is just such a bright, intelligent full-of-beans dog, and needs some training and focus to break him out of this habit.
Jasper is really gorgeous, he loves fuss and cuddles, but gets so, so excited. You can get him to focus and calm down with treats and toys though, lovely boy.
He has been in a home for the past 6 weeks, and these are their honest findings, in the hope that they will help find him the right new home:-
He will snuggle-up for cuddles for hours & fall asleep on your lap. He likes to sleep on your bed or settee but he’s no problem, settles right down & keeps you lovely & warm
He does have a modicum of training & responds well to treats
He loves walks & generally behaves himself, especially if on a strong retractable lead, as he sniffs everything following the many animal scents, so it will stop you being pulled
He’s very affectionate
He’s very clever & would be brilliant at some sort of agility activity
Not So Good Points
Needs to be with someone who has knowledge or training to handle an at times, dominant, naughty, borderline aggressive; displayed by nipping, mouthing & sometimes biting; although not bad biting but can be daunting if you’re not experienced
I think he suffers with a bit of anxiety & gets over excited which can lead to nipping
He needs A LOT of walking & can’t be trusted to be off-lead
He will try to escape out the front door or out of his collar so you must have a sturdy harness
You can’t really not have eyes on him, as he’ll get bored which results in mischief
He may be better-off with just a man, as he responds better to them, & you wouldn’t have dominance issues with say a female partner
You can’t grab him by the collar as he really doesn’t like it, but he lets you clip a lead on. However his harness is a whole different matter & this is a struggle & leads to mouthing, nipping & possibly biting
You can’t eat food off trays as it’s dog level & he’ll be in it, so table or higher!
